Blizzard Tournament in Fort Wayne |

Ancaster Blizzard Midget 1 travelled to Fort Wayne, Indiana for an indoor NSA qualifying tournament. This was the team's first outing as well as a first for quite a number of new players to the team. Blizzard played their first game against The Oakland Lady A's. Off to a jittery start, Ancaster spotted the A's to a few runs but then the girls settled in to play ball. Blizzard tied the game going into the bottom of the last inning as the game was time expired. The A's made a clutch two out hit to win the game 4-3.
In their second game of the day, Blizzard played a strong Fort Wayne team. Fort Wayne started hitting right off the bat and basically ran away with the game. Final score 11-0. Coming back to the dome Sunday morning Blizzard faced a team from Angola Indiana. Similar to the first game Blizzard spotted a few runs but fought back to catch up and eventually go ahead by two. In an exciting finish Angola got one back but ended up short as Ancaster held on to win 6-5.
Blizzard played their last game against a powerhouse team from Ohio. The girls played their best but lost 9-0 after five innings. Despite the two lop-sided scores the girls showed a lot of potential and can definitely improve a great deal from where they are now. Lots of good ball yet to come in 2010. |

Ancaster Blizzard Florida Trip March 2010 |

Sunday, 29 November 2009 |
Ancaster Blizzard Midgets are going to Cocoa Florida for March Break. Team will play 14 to 18 games mostly against NJCAA teams or possibly NAIA.
If you are a quality player who is looking at the Junior College route because Div 1 NCAA is a little out of reach, this should be of interest. There have been quite a number of girls who have been picked up by quality schools. A number of them have moved onto play at four year schools after JC. I know one who went to a good Div 2 NCAA school after one year at JC. Everybody got decent scholarship money. Regardless of what you hear full rides are few and far between. The Junior College coaches move fast. I have had girls play them in March and report in August for Softball.
The cost for 9 days, flight, accomodation, meals, softball, transportation down there and other goodies is $1175. Dates of trip are Mar 10 to Mar 19. There are a few spots available. Spots are being locked down now so if interested don't wait. We are especially looking for pitching as two of our pitchers are already away at College and unavailable.
This is our sixth trip down and it is a great experience for the cost.

2010 Canadian Little League Championships Billeting Request
It is a tradition of Regional Tournaments to billet visiting players with host families in the community. Billeting is one of the most rewarding opportunities in the Little League experience. The process of choosing host families for the visiting players is vital to ensure the comfort of the players and continuing the billeting tradition.
Ancaster Little League is asking it's members to host two players for the tournament that runs from August 5th to Aug 15th in 2010.
What is involved in being a host family?
Very simply, the players require regular meals, proper rest, clean clothing and acceptable activities and some transportation. Host families, many of whom have children of a similar age, can also relate, identify and often offer advice to their visitors to help with any problems that may arise during the tournament.
1. All players need to be billeted in pairs with their host families. This provides a reasonable comfort level for the players and parents.
2. Each Billet will provide the host family with information regarding allergies, reactions to animals, ect. to help assign players to appropriate families.
3. Each host will pick up their visiting players on Aug 5th when they arrive at designated areas. This is an opportunity to meet with the managers and discuss curfew and activity issues (e.g. swimming, biking, etc.) In most cases, simple common sense works.
4. The visiting players are to stay for the duration of the tournament with the host families. This prevents players staying with their parents one night and the host family the next night. The host family is providing not only housing and meals but also support and friendship. They deserve this consideration.
The tournament has appointed a Billet Coordinator to deal with any issues that may arise. The managers will work with the Billet Coordinator.
If you are willing to host two players for the tournament, please contact:
