Have you ever considered a career in Track and Field throwing the Javelin?

Can't be much different than gunning down a runner attempting to steal second base, eh?

Brittany Hicks of Binbrook, has been in our Blizzard program for 4 years now, the first 2 under manager Mark Hodge, and now is in her second year as a Bantam under Manager Dave Blair.

On June 8th in Ottawa at the OFSSA Track and Field Championships Brittany won Gold in Javelin with a throw of 36.77 m to dominate the Junior Womens field.

Congratulations from all your present and past team mates and coaches and good luck to you and your team in the Halton Hills tournament weekend.

Novice White Wins Gold

The weather was great and the Blizzard came to play, defeating Oakville Angels in the Semis and St Catharines in the finals to win Gold at the Brantford Tourney.

The team's offensive game is rounding into shape with improvements in hitting for power, bunting and overall baserunning. The defense is also improving and with more work will be better able to support the pitching staff, and contest every 60 feet, with better execution of defensive tactics and strategies.

A busy week is ahead with 2 league games and a practice on Thursday, before the Brampton tournament on the weekend

Congratulations to the team and keep working hard to improve.

After a tough loss to Mississauga Southwest on Friday nite by the score of 5 - 2, Manager Hodge and his team won 3 consecutive games by big margins, including 2 mercy games defeating Woodstock, Whitby and Jordan to advance to the elimination round on Sunday in the Brantford Tournament. The team enjoyed playing at Lions Park in Brantford, the host of the 2006 Novice Girls Canadian Championships, a fine fastpitch facility. Thanks also to the Meggitt family for hosting a great BBQ and pool party to help the girls relax between games. The team is working hard and improving every game as they focus on preparing for the PWSA Novice 2 Qualifiers, hosted at Ancaster Community Centre on July 27 - 29th. Go Blizzard Go!!!

Cam Mitchell Memorial

Friday, 08 June 2007

Cam Mitchell, the coach of the Ancaster Intermediates/Seniors and a person who was involved in fastpitch in the Hamilton area for over 30 years, lost his battle with cancer this past winter.

At the Ancaster Tournament (which has been running for the past 24 years mainly under the impetus of Cam), on Sunday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. on the main diamond in the Ancaster Community Centre diamonds, a ceremony will be held to recognize Cam and all of his work for the sport and the many individuals he touched during his time as a 'coach' of this great sport.

Please pass along this information to anyone who would like to attend.  Thank you.
