Midget 1 Indiana Recap
Written by Rick Ellis
Friday, 22 February 2008

Liz Baker batting in Indiana

The Midget 1 trip to Fort Wayne Indiana was a success and a good time was had by all. It is an interesting venue playing in the dome. Coaches are very pleased at the way the team played. For a very young team with many new faces they played well together. Teams first game was against the Indy Diamond Chix. Team started slow offensively but was solid defensively. In the latter half of the game defensive errors cost big. Final score 6-0. In the second game against the Ohio Classics the team settled down and started to generate offense. A good back and forth game but Blizzard came up short losing 6-5.

In their third game versus the Cincy Tribe the girls played another solid game but went down 5-4 in a game that could easily have gone the other way. Their fourth game was a late night start against the Downers Grove Outlaws. Both teams played strong defensively Final score Blizzard were down again 3-1. Sunday brought a re-match with the Outlaws. Blizzard scored once in the first and second innings and were down 3-2. The outlaws exploded in the third and scored 9 runs to end the game by the run rule. A tough way for the tournament to end but a good first showing by the team.

Blizzard Brochure
Written by Joe Benedetti
Sunday, 17 February 2008

We are looking for some help.

Last year we produced a colour 8 1/2 X 11 two sided brochure to help advertise our girls softball program, and direct the public to our website for more information.

However, it never did get to final draft, and therefore was not printed and distributed to our Rec Centres, Pools, Arenas etc.

Would anyone be interested in stepping up to the plate to help us finish the job and get the brochure to the printer? We have a budget in place to make the copies but need a finished product.

If you can help or want to "volunteer" someone who might, please give me a call

Flamborough - Ancaster Girls Registration
Written by Joe Benedetti
Friday, 15 February 2008

Our Flamborough teams are rounding nicely into shape.

It looks like we will have at least 1 Atom/Mite team and maybe two as families across the city look for opportunities for their daughters to play fastpitch on an all girls team.

We already have 14 ( the maximum number of players for a team in 2008 ) for our Squirt age group. Additional players registered will be placed on a waiting list until there are sufficient numbers to guarantee another team so please encourage your child's friends to sign up also. The deadline for registration will be in mid-March when team commitments must be submitted to the FMSA.

Again we hope to field 2 Squirt teams if registration continues.

We also PROMISE to have a Squirt Select team in 2008! We support tournament teams at all age groups and there are many tournament opportunities throughout the summer for a range of skill levels.

At Novice, our numbers are lower and so we encourage girls born in 1994 and 1995 to register to firm up our team.

Indoor Pitching and Catching Training will start after March Break on Thursday March 20th at Ancaster Sr Public School from 7:30 sharp to 8:30 PM and continue every Thursday until the good weather arrives. We have asked some Pitching Instructors to help teach the girls some of the finer points of these two important positions.

Also, gym time is also available on Saturdays from 4:30 to 6 PM for any coach who wants to get their team out for some early training

Do not hesitate to call me at home will any questions or concerns you may have

There ought to be some other means of reckoning quality in this the best and loveliest of games; the scoreboard is an ass.
